Blackbeard

    Blackbeard was rescued with his brother in July 2015.  They were bought as chicks from a breeder that convinced the buyer they would be hens. At a couple of months old, they started to crow, and their previous owner no longer wanted them. Sadly, roosters are looked at as a nuisance animals, and usually discarded or given away for free, with their fates unknown.  We took these boys in so that they may have a safe forever home. Blackbeard resides with his bachelor flock including roosters Captain and Kanga, duck Jay, and bunny Oliver.  Blackbeard is he boss of the crew!  Some of his favorite treats are cranberries, blueberries, and fresh greens.
